What Pradosh Vrat is
The thirteenth tithi of each paksha, kept for Shiva in the twilight window just before and after sunset. The weekday it falls on gives it its own name - Som Pradosh on a Monday, Shani Pradosh on a Saturday.
How the date is fixed
Pradosh Vrat falls twice a lunar month. The observance day is the one on which that tithi is running at sunrise - the conventional rule - which is why it moves against the Gregorian calendar each month rather than landing on a fixed date.
