What KP is
Krishnamurti Paddhati is a school of Vedic astrology set out by K. S. Krishnamurti in the mid-twentieth century. It keeps the sidereal zodiac and the Vimshottari dasha system, and replaces almost everything else about how a chart is read: Placidus house cusps instead of whole signs, the star lord instead of the sign lord as effective dispositor, and a single cuspal sub-lord as the verdict on whether a matter happens.
Why it is built for yes-or-no questions
Classical Parashari reading describes a house's condition and leaves the practitioner to weigh it. KP reduces the question to one planet - the sub-lord of the relevant cusp - and asks which houses it signifies. That is a deliberately narrow procedure, and it is why KP is used for timed questions (will this marriage happen, when will the job change) far more than for character reading.
What it costs
Precision on the input. A cuspal sub-lord can change with a few minutes of birth time, because the sub-divisions are narrow and unequal. A KP reading from a rounded or remembered birth time is not a more precise reading than a whole-sign one - it is a more fragile one. That trade is the honest way to describe the system, and any page that sells KP as simply 'more accurate' has left it out.
