What it means
Gochar is the live sky. Every graha keeps moving after you are born, and transit analysis reads the current positions against the natal ones - Saturn crossing your natal Moon, Jupiter entering your 10th house, and so on.
How it is read
Transits are usually read together with the running dasha, not instead of it. The classical view is that the dasha sets what is available and the transit sets when it activates; a transit over a house whose lord is not currently in play tends to pass with little to show for it.
What to watch for
Transit speed varies enormously - the Moon changes sign every two and a half days, Saturn takes about two and a half years - so the timescales are quite different. The Moon's transits are the basis of daily horoscope columns, which is why those are the least chart-specific readings on offer.
