The Hierophant upright
The Hierophant sits between two acolytes, dispensing teachings older than him. The keys at his feet open doors that other people built.
This is the card of institution and inheritance. Marriage, mentorship, religion, school - anywhere the wisdom is handed down rather than invented.
When the Hierophant appears upright, the conventional path is the right one for now. Argue with it later.
The Hierophant reversed
Reversed, the Hierophant becomes dogma. The keys still open doors, but the doors lead to rooms you didn't want to enter.
Time to question the lineage - quietly, then loudly.
