Chandra Mangal Yoga (चंद्र-मंगल योग)

The Moon with Mars - classically a wealth yoga, and the one whose emotional cost the texts are unusually frank about.

What it means

Chandra Mangal Yoga is the Moon conjunct Mars, or in some readings the two in mutual aspect. It is listed among the dhana yogas - the wealth combinations - and the usual explanation is that Mars supplies drive to the Moon's instinct, producing someone who acts on a feel for opportunity rather than waiting to be certain.

How it is read

The classical sources are unusually candid about the other side. Mars heats the Moon, and the pairing is associated with a short fuse, restlessness, and difficulty with the mother or with domestic peace - the Moon signifies both mind and mother, and Mars is not gentle with either. Several texts pair the wealth promise with exactly this caution in the same verse.

What to watch for

In practice the sign matters more here than in most yogas. In Cancer or Taurus, where the Moon is comfortable, the result reads closer to the wealth description; in Scorpio, where the Moon is debilitated and Mars owns the sign, the emotional cost tends to dominate and the money does not reliably follow. It is a good example of why a yoga name is a starting point and the placement is the actual reading.
