Kundli (कुंडली)

The birth chart itself - a diagram of where every planet stood at your moment of birth.

What it means

A Kundli is a map of the sky frozen at one instant: your date, time and place of birth, rendered as twelve houses with the nine grahas distributed among them. North Indian charts draw the houses as fixed diamonds; South Indian charts fix the signs instead. The data is identical - only the drawing differs.

How it is read

Everything else in a reading is derived from it. The dasha timeline, the divisional charts, compatibility scoring and transit analysis all start from the same set of planetary longitudes computed for your birth moment.

What to watch for

The chart is only as good as its inputs. Place fixes the horizon, and time fixes the Lagna - which is why a chart cast from a remembered or rounded birth time can be right about the planets and wrong about the houses.
