In classical practice an empty house is read through its lord and any aspects onto it - it is not treated as a void. What emptiness is taken to mean
Broadly, an empty house is read as an area of life running without interference - neither helped nor obstructed - and in some positions as an area whose affairs depend entirely on the planet that owns the house from elsewhere. The practical use is negative: it is a reason NOT to attribute a difficulty to that house, which in a system built around remedies matters, because it narrows what a remedy would even be for.
