What it means
Kemadruma Yoga is an isolated Moon: no planet in the 2nd or the 12th house counted from the Moon, and in the strict form none in the same house either. The Sun is excluded from the count. It is the negative counterpart of the Sunapha and Anapha yogas, which form when one side or the other is occupied.
How it is read
The stated effects are hard - poverty, an unsettled mind, a life of effort without proportionate result. This is the sort of description that does real damage when it is read out of context, and it is worth knowing that the classical texts immediately qualify it.
What to watch for
Three cancellations are standard, and at least one usually applies. The yoga is broken if any planet occupies a kendra from the Lagna, or from the Moon; if the Moon is itself in a kendra from the ascendant; or if Jupiter aspects the Moon. Between them these conditions cover the large majority of charts, which is why a competent reading reports Kemadruma as cancelled far more often than it reports it as standing. If a chart genuinely has it uncancelled, that is a specific and unusual finding - not a label to hand someone from the Moon's neighbours alone.
