What the D24 chart is read for
The D24 is read for education and learning: formal study, the subjects that come easily, and the manner of acquiring knowledge - by instruction, by practice, or by argument. It is the second opinion on the 4th and 5th houses and is consulted for academic difficulty that the D1 does not explain, as well as for the choice of a field.
How the D24 is calculated
Each sign divides into twenty-four parts of 1°15'. It is sometimes called Siddhamsa, and the two names refer to the same division.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Division | D24 |
| Span of one amsa | 1°15' |
| Amsas across the zodiac | 288 |
Reading it alongside the birth chart
Read the 4th and 5th houses of the D1 with Mercury and Jupiter, then the D24 for aptitude and manner. Where the D1 says whether study goes well, the D24 is better on what to study and how.
What a divisional chart will not tell you
The D24 does not predict marks or admissions. Those turn on teaching, effort and opportunity; a chart can describe aptitude and is a poor instrument for a result on a given day.
Frequently asked
- What is the Chaturvimsamsa chart used for?
- Education and learning - formal study, natural aptitude, and how knowledge is best acquired. It is the second opinion on the 4th and 5th houses.
- Is Siddhamsa the same as D24?
- Yes. Siddhamsa and Chaturvimsamsa are two names for the same twenty-four-fold division, each part spanning 1°15'.
